My view on survival horror

I can't stand games like 5 Nights at Freddy's or Amnesia. I feel like they are more pewdiepie bait than actual games. I prefer survival horror games from the PS1 and early PS2 era.

Really, the only modern horror game that grabs me like the older games is The Evil Within. Even then, Resident Evil for the Gamecube is a better game. The best part of The Evil Within is that it combines old style and post RE4 style horror games. While the shooting is more actiony, you still have to conserve ammo and sneak past or run by enemies. Almost every enemy has at least one instant kill move, so you need to keep your distance. That is way more tense than "WATCH YOUR MONITORS PEWDIEPIE PLEASE!"

Dead Space was also good, but it went down the same curve Resident Evil did in one third the time and half the games.
