Inter-Ception

I have found that lately there has been a massive influx of movies and television shows that really try to placate the masses through formulaic storytelling.  This of course, makes me personally want to gouge out both my eyeballs.  So when a movie like "Interstellar" roles around I get into my car and go see it.

I remember when I first watched Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" and I was practically on the edge of my seat the entire movie.  Not because it was "Action Packed" or anything like that.  Rather, it was because the burning question in my brain was "What the hell is going on?!"  I'm considerably older now then I was then and have gone through quite a bit of schooling and learning since then.  When I learned that "Interstellar" was about wormholes, black holes, and the relativity of space and time, I was ecstatic.  Needless to say, I was not disappointed.

SPOILERS

While the science behind the initials parts of the journey were seemingly accurate I found that my sense of disbelief was stretched to the utmost breaking point when Matthew McConaughey's character fell into the black hole.  It stopped being a scientific piece and turned almost schmaltzy.  I say "Almost."  I have my theories about how this storyline can't work because of the whole time travel aspect to it but that's not to say that I didn't thoroughly enjoy myself watching it.

It's a good movie that's well worth the watch.  Just the visual aspect alone makes it a marvel to behold.
