In Thursday's class from last week we discussed how video games and success are contradictory, but are also complimentary. What I mean by this is that the mainstream video games being created that have a lot of success are making serious cash. This means that they have obviously done something right in their art forms and their creative direction with their gameplay. However, success ($) does not equate to value. Video games are not to be designed for the purpose of money. Obviously everyone who creates video games wants to be successful, it's only natural to strive for physical wealth, but at the same time, the real purpose of video game production is for the individual. It is to create something bigger and better than the money. Creating video games should be completely driven from a personal experience or from the pure entertainment of the audience. I say this from a DMA perspective as well, I didn't choose to be an animator for the money, but for the opportunity to be creative and tell other people about my awesome ideas and here other peoples great ideas for animations and video games.
