So, um...

I am probably the least qualified person to talk about religion in the media because I simply don't care. I choose my media based on what suits my interests or what friends have recommended, and if they have overt religious messages, so be it. But that's not the reason I watch them. Just like the reason I went to this school. My entire family was like, "You know it's a Christian school, right?" And I said, "Yeah, who cares? It's got a stop-motion lab."

My priorities, ladies and gentlemen.

I liked some of the clips we watched in class but not because they matched my faith or whatever. I liked them because they included some of my other interests. On the Waterfront has the priest talking about standing up to the mob, and I'm a huuuuge sucker for mob movies/stories, even though I wrote a research paper earlier in the semester about how they're usually over-propagandized. The film about the woman who lost her son has SPACE. I love the imagery of space. Some of it terrifies me, yeah, but it's really, really beautiful at the same time. And the quietness of the video mixed with the space imagery was beautiful. I would have loved to watch the whole thing.

So, yeah. Religion in movies is not a huge deal to me. It's not that I hate it or refuse to watch it. I just probably won't seek out a religious film unless it has something else to offer me.

Spacey things?!?!
