Fish! Fish! Fish! Fish!

Documentaries are one of my favorite types of film. I usually end up watching ones on political and religious issues but there are so many great documentaries from so many different categories that it’s hard to choose just one or two to call my favorite.

One of my favorite documentaries is Catfish which is now a show on MTV. Nev Schulman is the producer/ victim in the Catfish documentary, in which he and his friends filmed about himself. The documentary shows how Nev goes out to find a girl he was dating online but is suspicious that she is a fake. They travel across the country to find that this girl is a fake and has been tricking many people to believe she is someone she is not. Nev coined the term for people creating fake internet profiles “catfish”. He now hosts the show on MTV where he helps other people find out if they are in a catfish relationship.

One of the other well-known documentaries that I love is Blackfish. This one is actually about aquatic life unlike Catfish. It deals with the corruption of animal care at Sea World and shows how they often maltreat the animals and the workers. I almost dislike this documentary in a way because I have such fond memories of Sea World.
