Understanding vs. Enjoying

I was very disappointed with myself when we watched Tale of Tales in class. Sleeper told us to not worry about understanding every detail and just enjoy the artwork. I failed miserably, I was totally confused by the end and I had spend the entire time watching it to try to figure it out.

The reason I didn't enjoy it was probably because I don't have a strong love for the art Yuri was presenting, even thuogh it was beautiful.

A movie that I don't have to understand to love is Donnie Darko. This movie is very difficult to understand but, the acting and direction in this movie make appealing none the less. Donnie Darko must have elements that relate to me. Since it gives me feelings inside that don't have to be driven by storyline.
