We Don’t Need To Be Pixar

Last Thursdays class was very insightful for me. We discussed the implications of the idea of creating our own standard for art, instead of just trying to match what other professionals artist have done.  This is an ingenious idea! Lets face it; it is not possible for us on this college campus to make a film that matches the production values of Pixar. But what we can do is create our own style of animation and use it to tell a great story. This also relates to visual effects for film. I personally get very discouraged sometimes because my vfx work is never on par with what ILM has accomplished. However, I realize this is a very unrealistic standard to compare myself to and given that I won’t ever be able to match what ILM has done. Especially given the fact that each shot has about 800-1000 people work on it.  However, I can use my limitations to my advantage and make something unique, with style that is just as visually appealing as a shot from ILM

Thank you Prof. Leeper for bringing this point up in class!
