Tbh i don't know a thing about animation so I've been having a little difficulty keeping up with the conversation over the last few classes. From what I've gathered, it takes an incredible amount of time and effort to create seemingly simple things. I say "seemingly" because to an uneducated audience member like myself, I unconsciously expect more than a white background out of an animated film. It's not that I mean to be critical, it's just that I've been raised on Disney and Pixar. I feel like I need to watch an animator working on the details of a project. If I saw for myself how difficult it is to produce a polished piece, then I know I would appreciate it more.

Nevertheless, I still find it interesting listening in on people's comments and discussions. At times I feel like I'm apart of a subculture of animators hating on the mainstream. I can understand how something dominant like Disney and Pixar becomes annoying because it's the apparent standard, but it seems like some people try and find fault with it just for the sake of being critical. Like today when Leeper said that the Pixar short, Boundin', was a mistake and we should pretend like it never happened- I became a little salty towards that comment. I really like Boundin' :-( I know I'm just sensitive because I've been indoctrinated as young kid to have blind, unfailing love for whatever Disney and Pixar produces.

I get it though. I get where other people are coming from. Honestly my opinions can be persuaded pretty easily. If anything, these animation classes have exposed me to films other than Disney which is good I guess, but I'm ready to move onto something new for thursday.

I like that comment you made; quite true. We must be careful when we judge something and be aware of WHY we are judging it. It's totally fine to have your own opinions. I myself found the music in Boundin' quite enhancin' and the sheep was hilarious when he was a prancin'.
