Okay, first off, that quiz... before I took it I thought for sure that it was going to be pretty hard but surprisingly when he started to say the questions out loud they were actually quite easy. Not kindergarten easy but rather a high school level but they still made me think about the readings. But overall, I really enjoyed having that quiz because it brought a kind of security of my answers. I'm not exactly sure on how to explain it but it was definitely not as pressured as most quizzes and tests are.
Now, as for Makoto Fujimaro's artwork. To be quite honest, I didn't quite grasp his style right away but after a few views I started to understand his work. And although it took me a little bit to find that understanding I still found his art to be very inspirational and beautiful as well.
But as for the artist before him (Bill Viola's), I couldn't help but to love it. And even though I didn't see what the his film was at first, especially when the bubbles in the beginning were traveling upward instead of downward, I still found it very amusing and very different. That definitely made my brain hurt but once I figured out that it was a slowed time lapse but in backward motion I soon realized what it was. Just simply a man jumping into a pool. And to tell you the truth, I thought it was really neat by how he was able to take the simple to everyday things and turned them into something more, something with a heart and meaning.
I loved Bill Viola's piece too. Very cool how, like you said, can take something ordinary and turn it into something extraordinary.
