Art is from God. So don't we embrace it?

The church needs to embrace art. Thursday's class period pretty much confirmed that in my mind.
I've always thought the church lacked art. For much of my childhood into my teen years, I was an artist in the form of drawing and sometimes painting. (Now my art form is film) But from an early age I recognized that it didn't seem as though art was very respected in the church. I always looked at it this way: God gave us imagination. He gave us the ability to recognize beauty. It's part of his ultimate gift of sentience. So why doesn't the church take advantage of this? Why don't we see more modern reflecting the Bible?
My films wont be this way. I hope that one day I can make films that help the church recognize art, instead of hoping for movies like Fireproof.
The slow motion film we saw that interpreted the Ascension was magnificent. It was thought-provoking, it kept my attention, and it reflected biblical values without being obvious. If I can make films like that someday, I will know my work is successful.
