“The point is that you learn how to make your work by making your work, and a great many of
the pieces you make along the way will never stand out as finished art. The best you can do is make art you care about- and
lots of it!”
How true Bayles and Orland are in saying this. The only way
to get to where you want to be in the art world is by practicing like crazy and
continuing to produce art until you’ve figured it out and after you’ve figured
it out. If you stop practicing you will lose the skill sets you’ve picked up
along the way, no matter how talented you were to begin with. It’s not quite
like riding a bicycle; it is possible to forget. It is a little sad to think
that most of the art that an artist creates will go unrecognized and there is
so much art out there and such a small demand for certain types of art. Such is
the life of one who chooses to make a living in art. The art that the artist is
able to put their heart and soul into is the art that will most likely be
recognized and appreciated by mass audiences, and even if it isn’t at least it
will still be beautiful and worth the while to the artist.
