I personally am also one of those who admires the psychological thrillers more than jump scares and traditional American horror. I love haunting supernatural type things, I love scary monster designs, I love psychological plot and all of that. But I get horribly paranoid and jumpy when I play horror games. I can't get through them because I panic so badly I forget the controls and just button mash like crazy.
I watch play-throughs of horror games all the time because I love the story and I love the monsters. I have a very hard time playing them myself because I get immersed in whatever I'm watching whether it's a movie or game. Often even if I wasn't outwardly scared during the game, I'll get scared walking around my house alone, especially at night.
PT is pretty terrifying, I had such a hard time watching the play-throughs haha. I had an especially hard time watching the Five Nights at Freddy's 1 & 2 play-throughs, I had to watch it out of my peripheral vision, and constantly glance away. But the story behind FNAF is so interesting and I love it.
