This class has changed the way I choose movies. Previously, I only watched movies that had good reputations or were recommended to me. Of all the films we watched in class, I can honestly say that the only ones I've heard of prior were the Pixar shorts and most of the music videos.
I've noticed that my tastes in movies is far more selective than my taste in games. I only see like three or four movies in a year. Very few of them are newer either, because there isn't anything I really want to watch on the Hollywood or indie sides. I don't look at games in terms of genres or like "That's a western/japanese/indie/whatever game". I just play whatever I think looks like I would enjoy, which means that my game collection could be described as eclectic.
Conversely, my personal DVD/ Blu Ray collection only has the Dark Knight trilogy, and a bunch of random anime movies and series, along with a ton of Simpsons box sets. While a lot of that stuff is on Netflix or similar services, the only way to watch a lot of films like we saw in class is through DVDs that are likely expensive.
