Last weekend I got to see the new movie in the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay. As a fan of the books, I was excited to see where they decided to split it. All of the movies have tried to stay accurate to the books, and this one was no different.
With book to movie adaptations, especially with ones that have large fanbases, it is really difficult, if not impossible to make all the fans happy. For the Hunger Games, some people were upset about the casting because it was a white actor and Katniss is described in the books as dark skinned. While I understand their frustration, I also know that native actors are hard to find, especially ones that could pull off the role.
Another frustration many fans have with adaptations is favorite scenes being completely left out. This most commonly happens with Harry Potter, but can happen in all series.
I thought Mockingjay was amazing, but that's probably because I am so familiar with the book. Some people might think it was slow, but the second half of the book is where it gets exciting. I cannot wait for the next part to come out.
