Indie Game: The Movie

When we watched Indie Game: The Movie in class, I don’t know if it was because I took an Adderall or what, but it kept me watching the entire time.  The creators of Fez, Braid, and Super Meat Boy all had such extreme passion and dedication for their games.  I know there are some people who do not necessarily like some of the creators of these games but you cannot deny the fact that they basically put their entire real lives on hold so that they could create these video games.

Something that really hit me the most in this movie is when Phil Fish said that if he could not finish this game that he would probably kill himself.  That was a shocking thing to say but I feel like I understand him.  Have you ever worked really hard on something and then once you starting to finish it the project gets ruined?  It was be that kind of upset times 100 for this guy because he has spent so much time on his game.

When it came to the creators of Super Meat Boy I think I admired them the most.  They were not making this game for anyone besides themselves.  They wanted to make a game that the thirteen-year-old version of themselves would love and that is exactly what they did.  The best part about their story in particular is that it all worked out in the end which was nice to see.
