Tree of Life

Last November I came to visit Huntington for the first time on the DMA day, and part of that visit included sitting in on Leeper's Intro to Digital Media Arts class. It was definitely an intimidating experience, to sit in the back row and look at all of the college kids that were much more knowledgable and well-spoken about film than I was. Then we started watching these videos that I'd never heard of before in my life....and that included the clip from The Tree of Life. I cannot tell you the last time I was so taken by a film. Leaned as far forward in my chair as was possible, I watched in awe at the beautiful images on the screen. On one hand I had absolutely no idea what was happening, but at the same time it all made sense. I'd never seen anything like it before and honestly it still hasn't been beat. So, when I left that day, all I could think about on the ride home was this clip, because it struck me. My mom said "well, I had no idea what that was about, so I guess it's good that you do...I guess this is the right field for you."

So thank you Leeper, because your film selection made my college selection much easier. I've been waiting for the day since November 7th, 2013 to watch the The Tree of Life clip in class. As you can guess, I was very excited when I realized that day was last Thursday.
