Over the Garden Wall

I haven't recommended a show in a while. So I thought I'd change that.

Over the Garden Wall is an adorable and also kind of dark animated short series that ran on Cartoon Network. It features brothers Wirt and Greg after they get lost in the woods... and that's all of the plot I want to give away. The best way to describe it is a mix of older dark fairy tales and Americana. It's kind of like a dark American fable.

Within the show there are so many references to fables and even some older cartoons. Some are fairly obvious, but others you need to have a bit more back ground knowledge. For example, do you remember the section about potter's fields when we talked about It's a Wonderful Life? Keep that in mind when watching one of the earlier episodes.
The foreshadowing in this show is great, too. The opening sequence alone has so many references to the characters that you'll meet while watching the show.

I'm at a loss for what else to say without spoiling the show. It's only a couple hours long, so you should seriously take the time to watch it.
