"Big Hero 6", the latest massive Disney animated film is an inspiring look into the future, with a few headaches along the way. The animation in the film is immaculate, the scale and accuracy of every detail on the screen is amazing. I could not stop staring at the main character's aunt's hair, it was basically real hair. The film was quite funny in some parts, but very serious and sad in others, which was a great mixture with the intense action sequences. The characters they wanted you to like were very lovable, and the characters you wanted to dislike, you still cared about in a way while you also hoped they got what was coming to them.
The film was an American film, with American looking, talking, and dressed actors. The thing that threw me completely off and made the film less enjoyable for me was the unnecessary incorporation of the Japanese culture. The characters names were all from Japanese culture, but they were not asian in any form. One of the teenage girl characters nicknamed, Honey Lemon, always said the main character's name, Hero, with an asian accent, but none of her other dialogue was with that accent. The town was a mix between San Francisco and Tokyo, something like SanFrantokyo. And although there were no other attempts throughout the movie to incorporate any type of asian culture, the ending credits had sushi and other irrelevant asian culture items in it. It gave me a headache after a while.
Overall, I thought it was a really well written film, with a great story. But it could've done without all of the random asian interjections.
