Why was the short film World of Glory so tough to watch? Why was it disturbing? Yes the very first shot of the film is the worst; it's an image that we're not ok with just accepting. Yet that is what we are capable of; that is what God's creation did. And somehow we have to live with accepting that. We have to live with the truth that normal, everyday people (like who the real estate agent encountered everyday) are responsible for the tragedy. I think that scares us. I think we're scared that we have that potential. Or rather like the sales agent we have the ability to just brush it aside like it's no big deal because that's easier than accepting the truth. It's easier to learn how to deal with the dirt by sweeping it under a rug and learning how to live with that dirt than it is to stop and fix and address the problem at hand. I think that is the real tragedy: complacency. Learning to just live with sin because it's the easiest solution.
You make a good point: The tragic thing is being OK with sin. We need to stop and think about it for a moment and realize that it is a reality, even if it can be hard to believe at times. We need to be aware of its terrible power in order to overcome it.
