Fairy Tale: Or How I Can't Come Up with Something Witty

This is a hard one to talk about. Not because I don't like fairy tales--or how I like to call them fantasies, the proper definition! (drinks tea snobbishly) Anywho, I can't really think of anything to say about the subject or, like my other posts, how it relates to being an artist. I mean I guess that I can bring up how it connects to God and the Bible but there are two things to that; one, despite me considering myself a Catholic, I'm not that much of a religious person, and two, I don't have that much experience with religion and I don't want to talk about something I don't really have that much knowledge of. Unless you want you and me to go into a heated argument on which Hüsker Dü album is better, Zen Arcade or New Day Rising (I prefer New Day), the you're on!

What I do know is that fairy tales, or whatever you like to call them, is that they are good for telling whatever story you want, whether it is a literal fantasy set in the typical Medieval times, or have it take place in present day, like with Harry Potter and…the Twilight Saga (shutters because that’s what every guy does when that comes up in conversation AM I COOL YET?!?!). Or, with the examples shown the other day Father and Daughter, Man Bought a House, and Bunny, they can have fantastical elements that is gripped in reality and doesn’t have witches, warlocks, knights, princesses, and dragons. And can be rather sad. Father and Daughter brought you to tears! DON’T LIE! There are so many ways to tell a fantasy story that really no one way is right or wrong. It’s rather broad when you do think about it.

And that’s all I can think of…

Yeah…
