Beautiful Tragedies

On Tuesday we watched a short film called Small Hands. The film begins in the forest with a vast nature of animals. I saw beauty in the craft of the images portrayed about loss. There is something about the act of creating to the sense of losing that makes this so unique. Small Hands could have been produced so much more violent and less calming, but Keaton Henson chose not to do so. This film was very touching in both how love was radiating through the film and then how beautifully the fall of the animals was shown. I feel like this film is about living your life to the fullest because you never know when it will come to an end, just as these animals have witnessed. Even though the deaths for these animals was shown very delicately, I still felt grief and sorrow for the ones who lost because I felt as if it were me. I am always afraid to being alone one day. The cold hard fact of life hits me harder than most people, so I can really relate to this film. By far, Small Hands was beautifully done and I'm grateful that I didn't cry. (:

  1. Yeah, I think it was a good decision on Henson's part to just focus on the mere aspect of tragedy, without feeling the need to carry it any further. The main point of this film is delivered without the need for violence. Sometimes simple is more.
