Calling myself a Christian.

The other day i was told by leeper i shouldnt call myself a christian because i am for guns. All i did was shake my head when he said he could probably guess how the class felt towards guns and i knew that most of the people were probably not for them. i didnt want to say anything in class because i didnt want to cause a seen, but i take great offence to that.First off i didnt know that Professor leeper was the perfect Christian and ad the authority to tell me that im not a Christian because i think we should have guns. Secondly i dont believe in killing people, i believe us a Christian have the right to defend ourselves and Gods army. When i think about this i think about David and Goalith. God kills Goliath because he is threatening and defying gods People. If someone breaks into my house i have the right to defend myself and family. I'm pretty sure (100% sure) that everyone in that room is a sinner. It states in the bible that the wages for all sin is death. So in other words we all are the same. So someone on the same stature as me does not have the right or authority to tell me im not part of gods people. One of the ten commandments is to not bear false witness against they neighbor. In other words thou shall not lie. I know who i am and i will not sit back and lie to myself or neighbor and try to be someone that im not. i will speak up when i think something is wrong. im pretty sure im one of the only people in that class that has been truthful about how i really feel. which is the man reason most of you look at me like im a horrible person. im not scared to stand up to what i believe in. So next time someone tries to say to someone else that they shouldnt call themselves a Christian you better reevaluate your life and see all the times you have screwed up and sinned. After all it says that if we confess our sins to him that he will grant us forgiveness.

  1. I am 100% a sinner.

I was a little shocked after he said that too. We all have different beliefs and opinions on certain subjects. If I'm for violence and killing, then yeah, I probably shouldn't call myself a Christian. But if I'm for guns, the 2nd amendment, and defense, I see no reason why not. I'm not a pacifist, but I don't want to hurt people either. If I'm in a situation where I have to defend myself I will. All this is getting a slightly taboo subject once again with Ferguson and Eric Garner, but we can't shy away as Christians.

I'm getting off topic, but no one should tell another of faith why they shouldn't/should be a Christian. Someone could hear someone swearing and say they shouldn't be a Christian, or aren't a good Christian. We are all at different points in our lives and have all been places no one else knows about. We have reasons for certain things we believe in and also once we say we are Christian, it's not like we all suddenly stop sinning and become righteous. We all have to learn and take time to do so.
