A Tall, Tall Wall

I'm gonna talk about anime since that isn't as angsty as my last blog post depending on the anime because tbh I could talk about Lain which is all kinds of angsty

I recently finished watching Haikyuu!!, which is about volleyball and two teammates (and unlikely friends) who have to overcome their differences. One is confident, arrogant even, and all of his old teammates didn't like him because he wasn't a good team player, but he's an extremely talented player. The other is often nervous about games to the point of throwing up and losing sleep, but he is very passionate about the game and works well with others; however, he totally lacks formal training and would be pretty sucky technically if not for his incredible jumping power.

Make the two work together, though, and they're pretty powerful, and they defeat many of their enemies, until they get to the Inter-High tournaments where they are defeated after working so hard to get there, and there are feelings. And tears are shed.

It is not fun to watch 11 guys sitting around a table crying, okay? I cannot even handle it when ONE guy sits at a table and cries.

Anyway, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, considering I don't usually like sports, and it was centered around volleyball. But there were a lot of enjoyable characters, and everything was explained in a way that a person who has never learned the rules to volleyball could understand.

I guess... in that way... it could be like what Leeper tells us to do with Christian media! We should make Christian media in a way that reaches out to non-Christian people in the same way that volleyball anime is able to reach out to people who don't play/know/like volleyball!

Tanaka (#5, next to #10) really needs to stop making that face.
