I'm a 20 year old from the Indianapolis area with an unhealthy addiction to video games and their concept art(ists). Seriously though, look up Veronique Meignaud's artwork for Dishonored. She has some gorgeous surreal pieces. I personally lean more towards stealth and puzzle sort of games with a heavy focus on the story. Sorry COD fans; shooter's aren't really my cup of tea. Games are actually where I'm hoping to end up after graduation, especially if I can land somewhere with Telltale, Valve, or Ubisoft... but we'll see where the wind takes me.
Other than that, I have a deep love for good storytelling, so anything with good writing will always grab my attention. Books, web comics, web shows, movies, games, etc... if it has a story that speaks to me I'll be all over it. Seriously, I had to cut down on the number of books I brought with me so my stuff could fit in the car. It was torture. And now I have revealed how much of a nerd I actually am. Good job me.
I have some advice for you freshmeatmen: 1) Don't over commit. You will have to do multiple drafts (of a paper, illustration, storyboard, etc) so don't get too attached to the first thing you produce. 2) Talk. Seriously. Talk in class. Your professors won't bite, and all of them want to see your succeed. If they don't they're not doing their job. And 3)... Have fun. You are going to be extremely busy going into your sophomore year, so get your work done quickly and enjoy your free time while you have it.
I think that's about all from my end. I may be a bit quiet or sarcastic in person, so don't think I'm mean or angry at you. I just function on a near constant state of fatigue. You'll probably be in a similar boat later on.
Well welcome to the dark side! ...Actually, you've been here longer than me, so I guess you're pretty well acquainted with it now. Anyways, nice to meet you!
