I Believe in John

Whelp…we’re doing this again! Like I said before, I’m not a religious person. I do consider myself a Christian, but I do not hold that to high value in my life. I do not consider evolution a lie, I do believe in LGBT rights, and if there does come a day where it is indeed proven that God does not exist I will accept it. And before I get hate, I will accept God’s existence when there is proof. I’m just optimistic that’s all. Anyways, I think I said this before but if not; I don’t like talking about religion, or at lease arguing it. And that’s mainly because that isn’t me. I don’t claim to know everything when it comes to the Bible, nor any other beliefs. I have nothing against you if you don’t believe in God but I won’t debate you. I’m not really that big of a negative person. I just want to talk about things I like and maybe get in a heated discussion. But if you do want my thoughts on this topic, I think this will explain why I feel this way.

Like I said in my first blog post, I’m a pretty big music fan. And one of my favorite bands, like many musicphiles, are the Beatles. In 1970, John Lennon released his first true solo album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. He released three other albums with Yoko, but this was his major debut. It’s considered to be the best solo Beatles album, and I can agree with that. It’s really good! The album is famous for being a confessional album, with its primal and minimal experimental sounds and haunting lyrics, mainly based on therapy that he took. One of the most famous tracks is the second to last track on it is called God.

It’s well known, and rather infamous, for “anti-religious” beliefs, where he denounces God altogether, and other people he used to hold in high value (I think because I’m not really sure he would hold Hitler in high regards). It’s also the song where he most famously sang “I don’t believe in Beatles!” The meaning behind this song is that God shouldn’t be focused on too much, but rather than the teachings and ideals of his words. He doesn’t consider himself an atheist mind you, but he believes that there are many gods for different people.

I do feel that he is right to feel this way, not just because of me being a fan, but on why I’m not that much into God as I should. I mean I am in a Christian college, so…

Anywho, we have this idea of what God is and yet so many of us are misusing it for selfish reasons. From oppression to being ignorant and blind. Pardon my French, but its bullshit honestly! So many of us hold the Bible in high regards but we forget the actual lessons that were taught. I rather believe in no one than to believe in a creed where power is often misused. And I’m not sorry! The dream is over.

Now for something completely different:

  1. I can dig it! I love the Beatles. Also I don't know why people diss evolution...it is an incontrovertible fact!
