Our generation is definitely the Disney generation. We lived (and still live) off of Disney movies. We watched them from when we were little and only cared about the princesses or the battles or the happily ever after. As we grew older we discovered the actual story line and the darkness that lies within them. And I don't know about you guys but I live off the lessons in those movies. I absolutely love kids movies and shows. When I say shows I'm talking about the mind numbing stuff that has little to no meaning. Some of us might have grown up on these kinds of shows. Some shows did have certain meanings and lessons behind them, but those were usually the live action shows and not the animated ones, like Drake and Josh or Hannah Montana.
Nowadays programs are trying harder to put lessons into their shows. Nickelodeon hasn't done well with that. Recently they have made some pretty bad T.V shows. Cartoon Network has done very well. I don't know who watches Adventure Time, but it is mind numbingly stupid and deep at the same time (plus the animation is awesome). The whole story of that show is actually really complex and something a child wouldn't catch at first. Of course these lessons aren't obvious, but watching them when you're older you realize how good and true they are. This is one of my favorite quotes from Adventure Time:
Putting these life lessons, or a certain "darkness" in children's stories is the reason why I want to go into this kind of stuff. I know how it affects kids when they are little, and when they are growing up. I know that it helps because it has helped me before.
